School

Our History

The International School of Comics, founded by the eclectic designer Dino Caterini was established in 1979.

The school offers a special teaching method, which emphasizes small class sizes and close contact so that each student feels professionally supported enough to find their own personal path that will allow them to make the best of their talents. Dedicating its efforts mainly to high vocational training, the School boasts a strong presence of its former students in the editorial field.

Since 1979, the International School of Comics has expanded significantly in Italy and by the beginning of 2013 it boasts locations in Rome, Florence, Jesi, Pescara, Turin, Padua, Reggio Emilia, Brescia and Naples.

The Chicago branch of the International School of Comics represents an alternative for talented individuals who want to pursue a career as comic artists.

Similar to our School in Italy, instruction is divided into several areas that the students will chose in conformity to their skills and passions. This articulated study method enables students to acquire an excellent education that prepares them at the International level.

As a Comics and Illustration institution, the School has been collaborating with many associations involved in social, humanitarian and animal rights organizations. The International School currently partners with UNICEF, Amnesty International, Italian Animal Rights Organization, Emergency, WWF, L.A.V. Anti-Vivisection League, Avis, and created a 2013 calendar based on the sketches of young people in the juvenile criminal justice institute of Nisida.
