Tools, Materials and Introduction to Illustration
Learn the traditional techniques of pencil, brush and ink. These techniques will be applied to page design and character development. This introductory course will cover, in addition to the previously mentioned, anatomy and perspective. While this is an introductory course, a more experienced artist who would like to further their skills are welcome as well. The lessons are structured in an open workshop format, with direct teacher/student dialogue. Homework is assigned as well as classwork – practice is the best way to improve! Character Analysis and Design in Comics
Begin your journey into the world of realizing comics by learning about character design. This course begins with the cornerstones of the comics world: anatomy, perspective and narration. Over the course of the workshop these basics will be applied to character development and design; making your character the actor on your own comic page. This course will analyze page composition, timing and space within each panel. While this is an introductory course, a more experienced artist who would like to further their skills are welcome as well. The lessons are structured in an open workshop format, with direct teacher/student dialogue. Homework is assigned as well as classwork – practice is the best way to improve!
