Our Student Services Director, Emma Rand, comes to us from Ann Arbor, MI. She originally came to Chicago to receive her BFA at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago with a predominant focus in Illustration and Comic coursework. A woman of many hats, Emma is also an instructor at the school, a freelance illustrator, and a cartoonist. When she isn’t engaging with students and taking on a mountain of work around school, she can be found creating illustrations for various show posters about town, devising comic anthologies, and helping to produce the largely popular comix performative showcase known as Brain Frame.
Emma, the brains behind “Freetember”, is a driving force at the school, always on the lookout for brand new ways to open our doors to the community of Chicago. She is an uplifting instructor who pushes students out of their comfort zones creatively, while still making everyone she meets at ease with her sunny demeanor. She is excited to be a part of a school that gives artists the affordable opportunity to learn the fundamentals that will allow them to push into the professional industry.
