The International School of Comics is happy to announce it’s new 2014 Fall Art Program for young adults ages 13-17. Whether you are the type to stay up all night toiling over questions like, “Where do all of Spider-Man’s webs go?” or you just want to use drawing to tell your own stories, this class will provide you with all the tools and techniques to master the medium of Comic Art. Throughout the course you, the artist, will explore all different drawing techniques and styles in a creative and focused environment. The workshops will provide you with a thorough understanding of how the comic book industry works, motivate you to push your art to new levels, and introduce you to a group of peers that share your interests and that you can feel comfortable sharing work with.
These workshops will be held at the International School of Comics twice a week from 5PM to 7 PM . The Young Adult Program includes twenty two hour lessons. The cost for the entire series of lessons depends on the number of participants to the class (see below for price options). There are no enrollment fees and the first lesson is free. Parents/guardians will need to fill out the Registration Form to provide their personal contact information and sign the agreement form regarding the Rules and Conduct of the Young Adult Program.
We do recommend that students register for the entire course, so that you can gradually learn the main concepts of Comic Art and progress throughout the lessons by having what you’ve learned in previous classes serve as building blocks for tackling more complex finished pieces.
Our programs provide the training and framework to stimulate your creativity and develop your artistic and storytelling abilities. Our talented instructors, who are working comic artists themselves, will demonstrate and teach students numerous formal techniques including proportion, perspective, 3D drawing, and the principles of composition. These instructors will encourage your individual artistic style to flourish in an environment designed to guide students through Comic Art using traditional techniques, cartooning, script-writing, character design, and much more.
