KIDS2015 Summer Kids Camp!
The Kids Summer Program is 6 weeks, on Mondays from 8am to noon, starting 7/6/15!
The International School of Comics is happy to announce its new 2015 Summer Art Program for children ages 6 to 16.
These young artists will explore drawing techniques in all different mediums and styles in a fun and creative environment.The workshops will provide kids with the opportunity to learn more about the comic book industry, animation fundamentals, and the art world as a whole.
Our programs provide the training and framework to stimulate children’s creativity and develop their artistic abilities. Students artistic individuality will flourish in this environment designed to guide students through Comic Art using drawing, cartooning, storytelling, character design, and much more.
Our talented instructors, who are working comic artists themselves, will demonstrate and teach students numerous formal techniques including proportion, perspective, composition, 3D drawing, and the principles of character design.
Course Syllabus
Week 1 Intro to The Principles of Drawing
The Art of Doodling and the Magic of Imagination
Week 2 The Arrangement of Space and Intro to Color Theory
Measurement, Proportion, Composition, and Art History
Week 3 Character Development and Storytelling
The Art of Comics and Creating your Own Story
Week 4 Putting your Character into Action
Studies in Anatomy and Movement
Week 5 Final Project… student directed!
Some students will want to make a comic book while others may want to focus on developing their characters and drawing abilities.
Kids who prefer hands on activities may want to make a 3D version of their character.
